During what stage of the cell cycle does DNA replication occur?

Cell cycle:

1. An animal cell's cell cycle is divided into two stages: the Interphase and the M phase.
2. During interphase, DNA is synthesized.
3. Interphase is a preliminary phase that is separated into three parts: Gap1 (G1), Synthesis (S), and Gap2 (G2).
4. True cell division occurs during the M phase of mitosis.

S phase :

1. The replication phase is known as the S phase.
2. DNA replication consumes the majority of the cell's resources.
3. All 46 chromosomes are duplicated in human cells.
4. Special proteins link the original and replicated chromosomes at a region known as the centromere.
5. The cell has 92 chromatids at this point i.e. 42 original chromatids and 42 replicated chromatids.
