Find the equations of the straight lines passing through (2, -1) and making an angle of 45 with the line 6x+5y8=0.

We know that the equations of two lines passing through a point (x1,y1) and making an angle α with the given line y=mx+c are

yy1=m±tan α1m tan α(xx1)

Here,

Equation of the given line is,

6x+5y8=0

5y=6x+8

y=65x+85

Comparing this eqution with y=mx+c we get,

m=65

x1=2, y=1, α=45, m=65

So, the equations of the required lines are

y+1=65+tan 451+65 tan 45(x2) and y+1=65tan 45165 tan 45(x2)

y+1=65+11+65(x2)

x+11y+9=0 and 11xy23=0
