Greatest 2-digit number = 99 ...(0.5 marks)
∴ Product = 999 x 99 = 999 x (100 – 1) ...(0.5 marks)
= 999 x 100 – 999 x 1 ...(0.5 marks)
= 99900 – 999 = 98901 ...(1 mark)
This is the required answer.
Greatest 2-digit number = 99 ...(0.5 marks)
∴ Product = 999 x 99 = 999 x (100 – 1) ...(0.5 marks)
= 999 x 100 – 999 x 1 ...(0.5 marks)
= 99900 – 999 = 98901 ...(1 mark)
