Solution
Instructions:
Explain the formation of Bhabar and its extent. (2 marks)
Explain the formation, features and example of the Terai region. (3 marks)
Solution:
The Bhabar region is formed when the Himalayan rivers flow down the mountain, and in turn deposit gravel and pebble sediments on the foothills.
This region generally stretches on a narrow belt of 8 to 16 km width, and is found parallel to the Shivalik hills.
The terai region is formed when the lost stream from the Bhabar region begins to reappear in the lower areas.
This region is generally quite swampy and marshy in nature. They are thickly forested and consist of rich wildlife.
The Dudhwa national park is an example of the Terai region.
