  • The Bhabar region is formed when the Himalayan rivers flow down the mountain, and in turn deposit gravel and pebble sediments on the foothills.
  • This region generally stretches on a narrow belt of 8 to 16 km width, and is found parallel to the Shivalik hills.
  • The terai region is formed when the lost stream from the Bhabar region begins to reappear in the lower areas.
  • This region is generally quite swampy and marshy in nature. They are thickly forested and consist of rich wildlife.
  • The Dudhwa national park is an example of the Terai region.
