RNA retrovirus:
- A retrovirus is a virus that uses RNA (Ribonucleic acid) as its genetic material.
- Many retroviruses are causative agents of diseases such as AIDS and cancer.
- RNA retroviruses are known to encode their own protein so that they could replicate the RNA into RNA or DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid).
- The enzyme RNA polymerase is used for replication.
Example of an RNA retrovirus:
- An example of RNA retrovirus is the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus).
- This virus gets transmitted through contact with infected blood, vaginal fluids, or semen.
