Adrenal cortex and facial hair:

1. Some women develop facial hair like beards and moustache due to abnormal production of androgens like testosterone.
2. In these women, they produce higher than normal levels of male sex hormones, androgens.
3. This results in male-pattern hair growth along with other male characteristics, like heavy voice.
