Definition

When an acid reacts with a base to form salt and water, it is called a neutralization reaction.

$\mathrm{Acid}+\mathrm{Base}\to \mathrm{Salt}+\mathrm{Water}$

Example

The reaction between hydrochloric acid ($\mathrm{HCl}$) and sodium hydroxide($\mathrm{NaOH}$) is lead to the formation of salt sodium chloride($\mathrm{NaCl}$) and water.
