Solution

Part (i)

Chromosome:

  1. Chromosome is the condensed form of the chromatin formed during the prophase stage of cell division.
  2. Chromosome represents a part of the genetic material
  3. Chromosome is made up of two sister chromatids.

DNA:

  1. DNA is the hereditary material of the cell.
  2. Nucleotides are the fundamental unit of DNA.
  3. Nucleotide comprises a nitrogen base, a sugar molecule, and a phosphate radical.
  4. There are four types of nitrogen bases found in the DNA - adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine.

Chromatin: Chromosome :: Nucleotide: DNA

Part (ii)

Thymine and Adenine:

  1. Adenine and thymine are complementary bases found on the antiparallel strands of the DNA.
  2. Adenine and thymine are linked by two hydrogen bonds.

Cytosine and Guanine:

  1. Cytosine and guanine are the other two complementary bases of the DNA molecule.
  2. Cytosine and guanine are linked by three hydrogen bonds.
