Solution

molar mass is the mass of 1 mole of the substance and its unit is g/mol

molar mass of CH4, C2H4, C2H6 are 16.04g/mol, 28.05g/mol, 30.07g/mol respectively

dividing the heat of combustion value given in KJ/mol by the molar mass in g/mol we get the calorific value in KJ/g

-890KJ/mol divided by 16.04g/mol = 55.486KJ/g for CH4

-1411KJ/mol divided by 28.05g/mol =50.30KJ/g for C2H4

-1560KJ/mol divided by 30.07g/mol =51.88KJ/g
