Fish scales:
They are skin outgrowths which are small rigid plates.
They are made up of lamellar bone and connective tissue called isopedine.
The plates overlap each other.
The free end of the scale points out to the tail of the fish.
The scales are anchored by the body by the anterior end of the scale, either embedded into the flesh or attached internally by bone.
There are different types of scales in bony fishes, i.e., Cosmoid scales, Cycloid scales, Ganoid scales, and Ctenoid scales
