Question

How does rabies spread?

Open in App
Solution

Rabies is a disease caused by the virus. The virus invades the central nervous system and disrupts its functioning. Rabies transmission usually begins when infected saliva of an animal is passed to an uninfected animal or human through a bite. From the saliva's point of entry, the rabies virus travels along nerve cells to the brain. It multiplies there and causes damage to nervous system. The virus then moves to salivary glands again.
