How is Klinefelter syndrome passed on?

Klinefelter syndrome:

1. Klinefelter syndrome is a congenital genetic disorder.
2. It is an uninheritable disease occurring due to the error in cell division.
3. An extra X-chromosome is present in the person diagnosed with Klinefelter syndrome.
4. They have XXY karyotype and hence 47 chromosomes.
5. It occurs due to the non-disjunction of chromatids of the gametes during cell division.
6. This results in aneuploidy (abnormal number of chromosomes), i.e., loss or gain of one or more chromosomes.
7. People with Klinefelter syndrome are sterile (unable to produce children).
8. They have overall masculine characteristics with gynecomastia (development of breasts in males).
