  • This productivity refers to the gross production minus the loss by respiration and decomposition. This is also called as apparent photosynthesis or net assimilation.
NPP = GPP – Respiration, hence (b) and (c) are corect statement.

  • Similarly, Net secondary productivity (NSP) = Gross secondary productivity (GSP) - Respiration making (d) statement correct.

  • In the plants, large amount of food is accumulated. But, it is used by herbivores. SO, after taking of the food by herbivores from plants, the remaining food is known as Net community productivity.
NCP = NPP - GSP
