Open in App
Solution

Reproduction:

  1. It is a process of producing offspring.
  2. It is of two types- sexual and asexual.
  3. In asexual reproduction, only a single organism/parent gives rise to offspring.
  4. Example- binary fission in amoeba, budding in hydra, etc.
  5. In sexual reproduction, the fusion of male and female gametes gives rise to offspring.
  6. Example- humans and other multicellular organisms.

Asexual reproduction in plants:

  1. When vegetative parts of a plant are used as a mode of reproduction, it is known as vegetative propagation.
  2. In reproducing by using leaves, a leaf from a parent plant is propagated, and a new plantlet is produced on the parent plant.
  3. Example- leaves of Bryophyllum, peperomia, etc.
