How many moles of SO2 have same mass as 3 moles of Oxygen ?(Atomic mass : S = 32, O = 16)

Given - Atomic mass of O = 16 and Atomic mass of S = 32.

  • Thus, Gram atomic mass of O = 16g and Gram atomic mass of S = 32g.
  • Gram molecular mass of SO2 = 1×[Gram atomic mass of S] + 2×[Gram atomic mass of O]
  • Gram molecular mass of SO2 = 32+2×16
  • Gram molecular mass of SO2 = 64g
  • Similarly, Gram molecular mass of Oxygen(O2) = 32g

We Know,

Numberofmolesofamolecule=MassofMoleculeinGramsGramMolecularmass.

  • Hence, One mole of SO2 contains 64g of SO2.
  • Also, Three moles of Oxygen(O2) has mass = 96g.
  • So, if we want to have a mass of 96g
  • Number of moles of SO2 = 9664
  • Number of moles of SO2 = 1.5.

Hence, 1.5 moles of SO2 have same mass as 3 moles of Oxygen Molecule.
