Question

How primary oocyte is formed?

Open in App
Solution

Primary oocyte generation:

  1. In humans, oocytogenesis, which takes place throughout the embryonic stage, produces the main oocytes.
  2. Each oogonium within the fetus's ovaries divides at that point and starts the first stage of meiosis I to form the main oocyte.
  3. Oogenesis is the process by which female gametes are created.
  4. This cycle begins in the embryo before fertilization.
  5. During female gametogenesis, an oocyte is created in the ovary of a female fetus.
  6. A primordial germ cell (PGC) is created by the female germ cells, and once it goes through mitosis, it develops into an oogonium.
  7. The oogonia develop into primary oocytes during oogenesis.
  8. The creation of gametes from haploid progenitor cells is known as gametogenesis.
  9. Two anatomically different types of gametes (male and female) are created in mammals and higher plants through separate differentiation systems.
