How do you neutralize potassium dichromate?

In order to neutralize potassium dichromate$\left({\mathrm{K}}_2{\mathrm{Cr}}_2{\mathrm{O}}_7\right)$, it can be treated with sodium metabisulfite$\left({\mathrm{Na}}_2{\mathrm{S}}_2{\mathrm{O}}_5\right)$.

Alternately this compound can also be treated with sodium bisulfite$\left({\mathrm{NaHSO}}_3\right)$ in order to neutralize it.
