Describe the immunoglobulin class IgD.

Immunoglobulin:

1. Immunoglobulins are glycoprotein molecules that are synthesized by a plasma membrane.
2. They are also known as antibodies.
3. They recognize and bind to specific immunogens or antigens.

Immunoglobulin IgD:

1. IgD is a monomeric antibody isotype.
2. It is expressed in the plasma membrane of immature B-lymphocytes.
3. The IgD that is secreted, comprises two heavy chains of the delt, class, and two light chains.
4. IgD is present in human lacrimal, salivary, mammary, bronchial, nasal, cerebrospinal and pancreatic fluids.
5. The function of IgD is to signal the B cells to be activated for the defense mechanism.
