Open in App
Solution

Scalar and vector quantity

  1. Scalar quantities are those for which just magnitude is required to characterize them.
  2. For instance, consider speed and mass.
  3. Vector quantities are those that require both direction and magnitude to be described.
  4. For instance, velocity, force, and so on.

Time

  1. The quantity of time is a scalar quantity. Because the only thing we need to define time is magnitude.
  2. Time is not a vector quantity for this reason. It merely requires a certain amount of size.

Hence, time is a scalar quantity.
