  • Inheritance of human skin colour is polygenic(ABC). In this type of inheritance, many genes control one character. The number of dominant alleles in zygote decides the intensity of phenotype.
  • Pleiotropy is a type of inheritance where one gene controls more than one character. For example phenylketonuria, sickle cell anaemia.
  • Codominance is where more than one allele of a gene is dominant. Both the alleles are expressed in an equal degree in the organism. E.g. AB blood group.
  • Incomplete dominance is a phenomenon where neither of the two alleles are being dominant, so their expression is an intermediate phenotype of the two alleles in their homozygous states. E.g., on crossing red flowered and white flowered Mirabilis (4'o clock plant), the offspring obtained is pink in colour.
