Osteichthyes:
Osteichthyes, sometimes known as bony fish, is a complex taxonomic category of fish with skeletons predominantly made of bone tissue.
They are distinguished from the Chondrichthyes by their cartilage-based skeletons.
Osteichthyes examples include Queensland lungfish and West Indian Ocean coelacanth (both Sarcopterygii), Iridescent shark, and American black sturgeon (two Actinopterygii).
Characteristics of Osteichthyes:
The tail fin is monocercal.
Skin is coated in either cycloid or ctenoid scales.
Because these creatures emit ammonia, they are known as ammonotelic animals.
