Normally acidic oxides and neutral oxides are formed by the non-metals.
Acidic oxides are those compounds that release acids when they are dissolved in water. On the other hand, neutral oxides don't release any such compound.
The acidic oxide of carbon is carbon dioxide (CO₂) which produces carbonic acid (H₂CO₃) with water and the neutral oxide is carbon monoxide (CO).
