From the Bowman's capsule, the glomerular filtrate enters the proximal convoluted tubule (PCT). Most of the useful substances such as glucose, amino acids, most of the inorganic ions (Na+, K+, Cl) and buffer bicarbonates are reabsorbed in PCT. The cells of PCT have numerous microvilli and mitochondria to provide energy for active absorption.
