Question

Read the following statements:
(i) A white amorphous powder (A) on strongly heating gives a colourless non-combustile gas (B) and solid (C).
(ii) The gas (B) turns lime water milky and turbidity disappear with the passage of excess of gas.
(iii) The solution (C) in dilute HCl gives a white precipitate with an aqueous solution of K4[Fe(CN)6].
(iv) The solution of (A) gives a white precipitate (D) on pasiing H2S in presence of excess of NH4OH.
Compound (A) to (D) are identified as:
(A) : ZnCO3 (B) : CO2, and (C) : ZnO, and (D) : ZnS
If true enter 1, else enter 0.

Solution

The white amorphous powder, compound (A) is zinc carbonate, ZnCO3.
The colourless non-conmbustible gas (B)is carbon dioxide, CO2.
The solid (C) obtained on strongly heating zinc carbonate is ZnO.
The white precipitate (D) obtained by the reaction of zinc carbonate with hydrogen sulphide is ZnS.
Zinc oxide reacts with dil HCl to form zinc chloride.
ZnO+2HClZnCl2+H2O
Zinc chloride reacts with potassium ferrocyanide to form white precipitate of Zn2[Fe(CN)6].
