  1. Secondary sexual characters are those characters that are controlled by the hormones that are released at the time of puberty.

Changes developed in boys

  1. Boys develop the heavier muscular body, wide shoulders, and narrow hips.
  2. Enlargement of the voice box leads to a much deeper voice.

Changes developed in girls

  1. Rounded hips and breast development.
  2. Matured ovaries start to release a mature ovum.

Reasons for the development of sexual characters:

  1. In males, sexual characteristics are developed due to the increased levels of the hormone testosterone.
  2. In females, sexual characteristics are developed due to the increased levels of the hormone estrogen.
