Solution

A mixed fraction can be converted into improper fraction by multiplying the denominator by whole number and adding the result to the remainder while keeping the denominator unchanged.

735=7×5+35=385

7310=7×10+35=7310

Subtract the width of the picture from the width of the frame to determine how much the picture should be trimmed.

Since 385 and 7310 are unlike fractions.

Convert them into like fractions.

The LCM of 5 and 10 is 10.

Multiply 385 by 22 and 7310 by 11 to make the denominator 10.

=385×227310×11

=76107310

=767310

=310

The picture should be trimmed by 310cm
