  • The disease causing gene from the human pathogen is identified and isolated.
  • It is then inserted into a plant virus.
  • This virus with the disease causing gene is allowed to multiply and infect the potato plant.
  • As a result the gene gets transferred to the potato plant. The potato from the plant when consumed will deliver the antigen and creates an immune response (gene expression).
  • As a result the person gets vaccinated.
