State laws of reflection?

Open in App
Solution

Drawing the diagram of the situation:

  1. The incident ray, the reflected ray and the normal all lie on the same plane.
  2. The angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection i.e i=r.
  3. The ray coming towards the surface i.e mirror is called an incident ray.
  4. The ray that bounces back after striking the surface i.e mirror is called a reflected ray.
  5. The perpendicular drawn to the surface i.e mirror is called the normal line
  6. The angle between the incident ray and the normal is called the angle of incidence.
  7. The angle between the normal and the reflected ray is called the angle of reflection.

Hence, the incident ray, the reflected ray and the normal all lie on the same plane and the angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection i.e i=r are the two laws of reflection.
