Solution

Dalton's Atomic Theory

1) All matter is made of atoms. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible.

2) All atoms of a given element are identical in mass and properties

3) Compounds are formed by a combination of two or more different kinds of atoms.

4) A chemical reaction is arearrangement of atoms.

Properties of anode rays-

  • They travel in straight line.
  • They consisted of material particles.
  • They are deflected in electric and magnetic field in opposite to that of cathode rays.
  • The nature or e/m ratio of anode rays depend upon the nature of gas present in the cathode ray tube.
  • They are( particles of anode rays ) simply positively charged gaseous ions.
  • The positively charged particles carry charge equal to whole no. multiple of the fundamental unit of electric charge.

Important characteristics of Cathode rays:
  1. They consist of negatively charged material particles; electrons.
  2. They produce X rays. When a beam of cathode rays is made to fall upon a hard metallic target like Tungsten, X-rays are produced.
  3. 3. They cause ionization of gas through which they pass. They are deflected by electric and magnetic fields towards positive field.

Conclusion drawn from Alpha ray scattering experiment of Rutherford

1-most of the alpha particles went straight through the foil.
2-some alpha particles were slightly deflected their straight path.
3-very few alpha particles were either deflected by very large angles or completely bounced back....
Hope this will help you.
