Solution

Organism: In the hills:

  1. Hilly habitat is an area that is generally colder and windy. Usually, it is covered with snow.
  2. Plants: In hills, plants are cone-shaped and leaves are small and needle-like whereas, stems are sloppy which helps to slide snowfall and rainfall easily. Eg. pine, fir etc.
  3. Soil: Soil is moist, and possesses abundant nutrients.
  4. Rocks: Rocks are present in hilly areas. Rocks are the large mass of stone formed by the breakdown of large mountains.
  5. Animals: Animals living in hills are adapted to live in cold conditions. They have a fur-covered body. Eg. Mountain goat, snow leopard, yak etc.

Organism: In the desert:

  1. In desert habitats, the climate is hot and dry and there is a scarcity of water.
  2. Plants: In the deserts, plants are small and bushy, or spiny and roots penetrate deep into the soil for better water absorption. Eg. cactus
  3. Soil: Soil is sandy and has very less moisture.
  4. Rocks: Small rocks may be present in some deserts.
  5. Animals: In deserts, animals may be long-legged like camels and maybe deep burrowing like snakes.

Organism: In the river:

  1. A river is an aquatic habitat which contains water all around.
  2. Plants: Plants that can grow in aquatic habitats like rivers are called Aquatic plants. Aquatic plants may be free-floating, partially submerged or fully submerged. Eg. Hydrilla
  3. Soil: Soil present in the river is wet.
  4. Rocks: Generally, rocks are absent in rivers.
  5. Animals: The animals present in river include fish, water insects, crocodiles, etc.

Organism: In the sea:

  1. Sea is the aquatic habitat which contains saline water all around.
  2. Plants: Sea has abundant diversity of plants that grow in the deep sea bed. Eg. Rhizophora, Avicennia etc.
  3. Soil: Soil of the sea is acidic and wet.
  4. Rocks: Rocks are also present in the sea.
  5. Animals: Sea has abundant diversity of animals including mammals (Whales), fishes, snakes, and tortoises etc.
