  2. These are caused by the acid produced in the stomach which erodes the lining of the GI tract.

Helicobacter pylori are bacteria that cause Peptic ulcers.

  1. The bacterium, Heliobacter pylori, is responsible for causing peptic ulcers.
  2. The bacterium eats into the protective mucous lining of the stomach.
  3. This causes the hydrochloric acid of the stomach to come in contact with the stomach lining and erode it, leading to peptic ulcers.
