The following equation represents double displacement reaction, what is the precipitate in this reaction?
AgNO3(aq)+NaI(aq)→AgI(s)+NaNO3(aq)
Silver iodide
AgNO3(aq)+NaI(aq)→AgI(s)+NaNO3(aq)
In the above reaction, the product silver iodide is insoluble as physical state (solid) is mentioned for it in the reaction. And also double displacement reactions implies precipitation reaction. So the solid product in double displacement reaction will be a precipitate. The precipitate in this reaction is silver iodide.
