Question 3
The kinetic energy of an object of mass, m moving with a velocity of 5ms1 is 25 J. What will be its kinetic energy when its velocity is doubled? What will be its kinetic energy when its velocity is increased three times?

Open in App
Solution

K.E. of the object = 25 J
Velocity of the object, v=5ms1
K.E.=12mv2
m=2K.E.v2
m=2×2525=2kg

If the velocity is doubled,v=2×5=10ms1
K.E.(for v=10ms1)=12×2×100=100J

If the velocity is tripled, v=3×5=15ms1
K.E.(for v=15ms1)=12×2×225=225J
