  1. Red blood corpuscles are disc-shaped, anucleate cells that contain haemoglobin pigment.
  2. Haemoglobin is an iron-containing pigment that binds to oxygen and help in its transport.
  3. The mature red blood cells of mammals do not have a nucleus and mitochondria. In such conditions, RBCs can not use oxygen for themselves, thus all the oxygen absorbed by the haemoglobin of RBC is transported to the tissues.
