Metals which are low in activity series are very less reactive. Therefore they don't make strong bonds with other elements and can be reduced by heating.

Mercury is low in the activity series, but zinc is in the middle and sodium and aluminium are at the top. Hence Mercury(Hg) is the only metal that can be reduced from its metal oxide by heating.
