Solution

Ions are formed when an atom either gains or loses electron. Ions can be of two types:

  • cations- positively charged ions
  • anions- negatively charged ions

Answer:

Ionic compounds are formed due to the electrostatic interaction between the cation and anions. These exist in a 3D type of structure, hence, forming a giant structure of ions.

The example in the list that forms a giant structure of ion is Sodium Chloride, as it is an ionic compound.
