Shape A:


Volume of base area
= 4×3×1 cu units
= 12 cu units

Number of layers = 2

Therefore, total volume
=Volume of the base area×Number of layers
=12×2 cu units
=24 cu units


Shape B:



Volume of base area
=4×2×1 cu units
=8 cu units

Number of layers = 4

Therefore, total volume
=Volume of the base area×Number of layers
=8×4 cu units
=32 cu units

∴ Volume of Shape A is less than volume of Shape B.
