What are survival factors?

Survival factors:

1. Any factor or hormones that influences survival or proliferation of stem cells are called Survival factors.
2. Growth factors, morphogens, proteoglycans, cytokines, hormones, and neurotransmitters act as survival factors .
3. They seem to promote cell survival by enabling cells to take up sufficient nutrients for self maintenance during apoptosis.
4. They act as chemical messengers, communicating with cells to stimulate growth and cell proliferation.
5. They're essential to wound healing and skin repair.
