What are the requirements of Vernalization?

Vernalisation: It is the process of artificially inducing flowering in plants by exposing them to sustained cold temperatures.

Vernalisation has the following requirements:

1. Water: This ensures all the physiological processes continue.
2. Actively dividing cells: To prevent the plant from reaching senescence.
3. Low temperature: The temperature range should be between 1-7 degrees.
4. Aerobic respiration: This ensures the sufficient release of energy by the complete oxidation of glucose.
5. Suitable and adequate nourishment: This ensures that every part of the plant is well nourished to prepare for flowering.
