Solution

Vegetative propagation:

  1. This is the formation of new plants from non-sexual fertilization of the ovary by the pollen tube.
  2. It involves the usage of non-sexual parts of the plant like leaves, stems, and roots, to generate new plants.

Vegetative propagules:

Vegetative propagules are the structures that are used to raise a new plant from the given part.

Some of the vegetative propagules are:

  1. Stem: Runners grow horizontally and above the ground. The buds formed are present at the nodes of the runners.
  2. Roots: New plants emerge out of swollen, modified roots called tubers. Buds are present at the base of the stem.
  3. Leaves: Leaves of several plants can be detached from the parent plant and develop into new plants.
  4. Bulbs: Bulbs are said to have an underground stem to which the leaves are attached. Their leaves are capable of storing food. The center of the bulb has an apical bud that produces leaves and flowers. Shoots are also developed from the lateral buds.
