Question
What color are bacterial spores after a gram stain is performed?

Solution
Bacterial spores
are capsules produced by bacteria.
Concentrated in such capsules are the cytoplasm and genetic content of the cells wrapped in a series of protective layers.
They are highly resistant to adverse external conditions such as high and low temperatures, drought, and radiation.
Bacterial endospores become
colorless
after Gram staining.
This is because endospores are impermeable to normal staining. In contrast, plant cells appear pink with Gram stain.
