Question

What experiment would we do to confirm that the F2 generation did in fact have a 1:2:1 ratio of TT, Tt, and tt trait combinations?

Solution

Mono-hybrid cross. We cross a pure tall plant with a pure dwarf plant to check which trait is dominant which is recessive. The F1 progeny shows all tall plants(Tt). But in the F2 generation, both tall short plants are found in the ratio 3:1 (the phenotype). The genotype(the type of genes) is 1:2:1.
