What happens during cleavage?

Cleavage:

1. Cleavage is the process of the division of cells in an early embryo.
2. One large zygote gets divided into multiple smaller cells.

During cleavage:

1. The cells divide without any increase in mass.
2. The size of cells decreases.
3. The zygote also repeatedly divides to convert the large cytoplasmic mass into many small blastomeres.
