What happens if fertilization fails?

Fertilization:

It is a process in which the male gamete mates with the female gamete to form Zygote.

Fertilization failure:

1. Fertilization fails to occur when a female egg cell fails to meet with a male sperm cell.
2. The stage is classified under the pre-menstrual period when the corpus luteum degenerates because fertilization does not occur.
3. Failure of fertilization causes the cycle of menstruation to start again.
4. The sloughed off the uterine wall and the associated blood is passed out as menstruation.
