What is an Anionic Surfactant?

Surfactants are also called detergents, which help in removing dirt, oil, and marks on clothes, utensils, and skin.
It can be majorly used in the industries as they are amphiphilic.
Surfactant contains both ends as a hydrophilic and hydrophobic end.
If in case the hydrophilic part of the surfactant contains a negative charge then it is called an anionic surfactant.
If in case the hydrophilic part of the surfactant contains a positive charge then it is called cationic surfactant.
If in case the hydrophilic part of the surfactant does not contain a charge then it is called a neutral surfactant.
Examples of anionic surfactants are
ammonium lauryl sulfate, sodium Laureth sulfate, and sodium lauryl sarcosinate
