Open in App
Solution

Heterozygous:

  1. Heterozygous is a condition in which an organism inherits two different alleles of a particular gene from each parent.
  2. In a heterozygous condition, there is one normal allele and one mutated allele.

Example - Height of pea plant:

  1. There are two varieties of pea plants: Tall plants and dwarf plants.
  2. Two alleles T (tall) and t (dwarf) control the height.
  3. T is the dominant allele and t is recessive.
  4. When both alleles are the same (TT or tt), it is known as homozygous.
  5. When both alleles are different (Tt), it is known to be heterozygous.
