Question
What is apoptosis, cerebral hamarage and aquaporins?

Solution
Apoptosis
is a process of
programmed cell death
that occurs in
multicellular organisms
.
Biochemical
events lead to characteristic cell changes (
morphology
) and death. These changes include
blebbing
,
cell shrinkage
,
nuclear fragmentation
,
chromatin condensation
,
chromosomal DNA fragmentation
, and global
mRNA
decay. Between 50 and 70
billion
cells die each day due to apoptosis in the average human adult.
[a]
For an average child between the ages of 8 and 14, approximately 20 to 30 billion cells die a day.
Bleeding around or within the brain itself is known as a cerebral hemorrhage (or intracerebral hemorrhage).
Aquaporins
, also called
water channels
, are
integral membrane proteins
from a larger
family
of
major intrinsic proteins
that form
pores
in the
membrane
of
biological cells
, mainly facilitating transport of water between cells.
[
The
cell membranes
of a variety of different
bacteria
,
fungi
, animal and
plant cells
contain aquaporins through which
water
can flow more rapidly into and out of the
cell
than by diffusing through the
phospholipid bilayer
.
