What is importance of rib cage in our body?

Rib cage:

1. The rib cage is formed by the connection of ribs of the chest bone and the vertebral bones.
2. Each side of the chest consists of 12 ribs.

Importance of ribcage:

1. A ribcage is flexible yet strong to protect major vital organs such as the heart, lungs and liver.
2. Rib cage provides bony protection to the lungs
3. Ribs get expand during inhalation or contract during exhalation.so that's how they assist in respiration.
