What is parenchyma?

1. Parenchyma is the most abundant tissue present in every organ of the plant body.
2. It is a type of simple permanent tissue which is oval or polygonal in shape.
3. In leaves, parenchyma cells have a chloroplast called chlorenchyma.
4. Parenchyma cells are used to store reserved food materials like in the case of potatoes.
5. They also store waste products of plants in the form of tannins or gums.
