Question

What is the direction of the null vector?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Definition: A vector's direction has been determined by the straight line from its source towards its point.
  2. Furthermore, for this concept to operate, the distance between the tail source and the tip must be limited; this distance is also known as Magnitude.
  3. A zero vector seems to have no magnitude! As a result, its tail tip coincides and, as explained previously, would have no predetermined direction.

Therefore, A null vector does not have a direction. The magnitude of the null vector is zero.
